Getting Started Guide

Welcome to Magnify! This guide will walk you through everything you need to run your first service — from opening the app for the first time to projecting beautifully formatted lyrics, Bible verses, and media.

If you haven't already, open Magnify in your browser. It works on any device with a modern browser — no installation, no accounts, no credit card required.

1. Open Magnify

Navigate to app.magnify.click in your browser. The app loads instantly and is ready to use. For offline access, click the install icon in your browser's address bar to add Magnify as a Progressive Web App (PWA).

When you open Magnify, you'll see a clean interface with a toolbar at the top and the main presentation area below. The toolbar gives you quick access to songs, Bible verses, media, and settings.

2. Add your first songs

Click the Songs button in the toolbar to open the song library. Here you can:

• Create a new song — type or paste lyrics directly into the editor
• Import from text — paste formatted lyrics with chord markings and section headers
• Organize into setlists — group songs by service date or theme

When editing song lyrics, Magnify supports:

• Section headers like [Verse 1], [Chorus], [Bridge]
• Chord markings above lyrics using parenthesis formatting
• Multiple slides per section for long verses
• Automatic active-line highlighting during presentation

3. Display on screen

Once you've added songs, you can present them immediately. Click any song in your library to load it into the presentation area. Use the arrow keys or click to advance through slides.

Magnify supports both single-screen (laptop or tablet projecting directly) and dual-screen (extended display) setups. On a dual-screen setup, the audience sees the full-screen presentation while you control everything from your primary display.

4. Bible verses

Magnify includes a built-in Bible module with multiple translations. Click the Bible button in the toolbar to open the passage browser.

You can:

• Enter a verse reference (e.g., John 3:16)
• Display multiple passages side by side
• Compare translations in parallel columns
• Customize the font size and display style

The Bible module works offline — passages are cached after first access, so you're never stuck without scripture even without internet.

5. Media & overlays

Beyond lyrics and Bible verses, Magnify supports:

• Background videos — loop video behind lyrics or Bible text
• Image overlays — display announcement slides, logos, or sermon graphics
• Countdown timers — show a countdown before service or during transitions
• Banners — overlay text on top of any background

To add media, click the Media button in the toolbar and drag your files into the library. Magnify supports common video formats (MP4, WebM) and image formats (JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF).

6. Pro tips for a smooth service

Here are a few things we've learned from running Magnify in churches around the world:

• Prepare ahead. Load your songs and Bible passages before service starts. Use the rehearsal mode to walk through the flow.
• Use setlists. Create a setlist for each service with the exact song order. This prevents fumbling between items during worship.
• Keep it simple. You don't need fancy transitions. Clean, readable text projected clearly is more effective than flashy effects.
• Test your display. If using dual screens, test the extended display setup before the congregation arrives.
• Know your shortcuts. Memorize a few keyboard shortcuts (B for blank, F for fullscreen, arrow keys for slides) — they'll save you during services.
